Carolina Beach, NC to Little River/Myrtle Beach, SC

“Wheels up” at 6:30 just before sunrise to a full moon still bright enough to reflect on the water, beautiful.  The weather promises to be warmer than previous days but we’ll have some wind again.  The ICW takes a turn into the Cape Fear River with bigger ships, and freighters, and ferries, and bigger water than we’ve had so far this trip!  It’s a nice day to tuck back into the ICW at Southport, NC.  We’re enjoying relaxed cruising today with the ICW traffic thinning out…then we get passed by a sailboat…REALLY?!!

Lighthouse at Lightkeepers Marina

We cross the North Carolina/South Carolina border shortly before cruising into Harbourgate Marina in Little River/Myrtle Beach, SC.  We have a great spot for watching the passersby on the waterway, especially with a bridge just south of us adding to the activity but soon we can’t resist the restaurant/bar next door…Captain Poo’s!  haha!…and walk over for a bite to eat.  We end up at the bar with the Captain himself and some of his friends, getting our dose of stories, advice and history.  Loved it!
