Little River to Georgetown, SC

By Debbie

We get ready to get underway this morning to a bridge less than a hundred yards south of our docked location, the Little River Swing Bridge with a 7 foot clearance.  We can see the bridge tender’s command post from the boat so before we leave the dock we radio a request for opening.  He replies, “Yep, I see you. Bring ‘er on down.”  No waiting, no “hovering,” no fuss, no muss.  We are “wheels up” at 6:35 and the bridge is open when we get there!

I spent part of today working on paperwork that I wasn’t able to finish before leaving San Diego.  I LOVE my office cruising down the ICW with great ever-changing views!  I’m surprised I got any work done.

We arrive at Georgetown Landing Marina in Georgetown, SC at 2:00 pm and by the time we are secured and comfortable the marina crew has a giant pot of fish stew over rice ready for all the marina clients, Yum!  After eating we take the 1 mile walk into town.  Georgetown is the third oldest city in South Carolina with lots of history and very picturesque…beautiful.

Back at the boat Steve opens a bottle of wine for us, or at least tries.  He keeps twisting the wine opener but nothing happens.  Mind you this is with no alcohol “on board” yet.  He complains that the cork or the opener must be screwed up and unwinds the opener to find the bottle is a screw top!  Bahaha!  To his defense, it is the first screw-top we opened this trip!

I guess he did actually open it with the wine opener…hahaha!
