“Wheels up” at 6:10 this morning. A few miles down the ICW from Isle of Palms Marina was the Ben Sawyer Swing Bridge listed at a clearance of thirty-one feet. The tide was in so the bridge meter measured a little less clearance but still plenty of room, we didn’t call for an opening. This will probably be one of the lowest bridges we will pass under so I went up to the fly bridge to watch and shoot video. Pretty close but no problem.
We enter the Cooper and Ashley Rivers at Charleston, SC passing by large cruise ships and freighters. They look massive, especially after several days of being one of the larger boats on the Intracoastal Waterway! Most boats larger than us travel off shore (in the ocean). We arrived at Port Royal Landing Marina at 4:10 pm and docked at the end of the T dock. There was a strong current on the Harbor River most of the night, it was a noisy and rocky night.
