We arrived at Le Tub Saloon on the Intracoastal Waterway in Hollywood Beach, Florida at 11:30 am. Le Tub Saloon is owned by Steve’s longtime friends, Steve and Robin, and serves outstanding food including their famous hamburger! It is a fun and quirky establishment (loved by locals) with lush landscaping and open air and outdoor multi-level seating. The barren property was purchased in 1974 and Le Tub Saloon was built “of Flotsam, Jetsam and ocean borne treasures all gathered daily over 4 years of day break jogging on Hollywood Beach” from http://www.theletub.com.
Across the street from Le Tub is Hollywood Beach. In addition to a beautiful beach, it features an oceanfront promenade called the Hollywood Beach Broadwalk that stretches nearly two and a half miles along the Atlantic. The Boardwalk is a haven for joggers, bicyclists, roller-bladers and all who’d prefer to take in the action from one of the cafes or bars along the way. Unfortunately for us and Abby, pets are not permitted on the beach or the Broadwalk.
A highrise hotel/resort is being constructed directly across the street from Le Tub Saloon, the Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort. It is said to be inspired by the lyrics and lifestyle of singer, songwriter and author Jimmy Buffett, and will be a destination resort and entertainment complex. This is causing mixed feelings for the owners, employees and loyal patrons of Le Tub.
