We woke this morning with the water in Black Sound like glass, zero wind! After everyone consulted their various weather apps, the four Captains held a meeting of the minds. It was unanimously decided that we continue our cruising back to Florida with the hope that this opportune weather window would hold for the next four days to afford us a comfortable crossing of the Gulf Stream. Steve and I were the first to leave the Leeward Yacht Club and Black Sound, Green Turtle Cay around 12:30 pm with only a few hours cruise to the Crab Cay/Angel Fish Point anchorage. Many people avoid this anchorage at the Northeastern point of Great Abaco because charts indicate poor holding; however, there is excellent protection from north northwest thru south southwest and the holding is very good, provided care is taken to set the anchor in clear sand. We took our time and found good hold for the anchor and after taking Abby to shore for a pee break we spotted the Calvary rounding Angel Fish Point around 5:00 pm.
Tomorrow is my birthday and it was sounding like we were going to be in different anchorages tomorrow night so we celebrated this evening on the “mother ship,” our Hatteras. It was a beautiful evening and sunset while we had drinks and appetizers on the bow then moving inside we played a rousing game of Cards Against Humanity!
