“Wheels up” at 7:15 this morning leaving Ludington Municipal Marina under cloudy skies. Seas were a little rougher than our first leg and we hit fog again about an hour into the trip but it cleared by 10:30 and was beautiful the rest of the trip. We arrived at the breakwater and channel to Betsie Lake and our slip at Jacobson Marina in Frankfort at 12:30 pm.
Conveniently, the marina is adjacent to the quaint and picturesque downtown area. After a two block walk we were strolling along the tree lined main street, with a diverse selection of shops. After some window shopping we found refuge (for Steve) in the Stormcloud Brewing Company brewpub for a couple flights and yummy veggie flatbread. The beaches came next on our stroll. They are brilliantly within the breakwater (probably a necessity on a Great Lake), warming sooner and protected from the fetch. The Villa Marine Bar came next sporting a back deck with a great view of the marinas and Betsie Lake. Back to the boat for dinner with a view then off to the beach for a beautiful sunset over the water.

Passing by the SS Badger, all light up for their morning departure, on our way to the channel

10:30 am and the fog is gone and we’re back in the sunshine! Although fog can be really cool!
