We just completed an awesome cruise on the amazing Erie Canal!! 11 days, 7 stops/towns, 160 miles, 22 locks (#2-23), and 68 fixed bridges (5 of those twin spans)

Our adventure ends with the Waterford Flight or Flight of Five. It is the first (or last in our case) of five locks on the Erie Canal.  An engineering wonder, the Flight features five locks where vessels are lifted or lowered the greatest height in the shortest distance of any canal in the world.  It is 169 feet in elevation change in less than 2 miles.

Waterford, NY is the gateway to (or for us the completion of) the Erie Canal.  It is at the intersection of the Erie Canal and the Hudson River.
